Bred by Ibn Subayni of the Mhayd-Fidan. Purchased from the Fidan by Mahmud Aga, a Kurdish Chief of irregular cavalry in Kars Turkey who obtained him as a 2 yr old. Aga also rode him in 1877 to the war in Armenia, where nearly every other horse perished. Purchased from him at Aleppo by the Blunts. Imported from Egypt to England in 1878 by Wilfrid and Lady Anne Blunt, for their Crabbet Arabian Stud there. Sold and imported from England to Australia in 1885 by D. MacKay.
A Seglawi Jedran, his sire is said to have been of the same strain.
