Breeder/Owner: August Belmont Jr. Race record: 5-1-1-0, $390. Raced at Laurel twice, Piping Rock once and Pimlico twice. Mahubah had an excessively nervous disposition inherited from her sire Rock Sand. An old photograph of her suggests that she was lengthy and roomy with a well laid back shoulder and strong hindquarters. Described by her trainer, Sam Hildreth, as a speedy filly, but excessively nervous so she was retired after her maiden win and sent to Kentucky Nursery Stud in Lexington for broodmare duty. Mahubah produced five foals but was barren after 1921. She was best known for her son Man O´ War but also produced stakes winners My Play & Masda, and like Man O´ War both met with success in the breeding shed. Mahubah died in 1931, age 21, and was buried next to Fair Play at Elmendorf Farm. She was often referred to as ´Fair Play´s wife´ as he was the only stallion she was ever bred to.
