Moon Deck was foaled on March 28th, 1950. He was bred by J. B. Ferguson in Wharton, Texas and was by the Thoroughbred stallion Top Deck. His dam, Moonlight Night, was by the Thoroughbred stallion Peace Pipe. Moon Deck made 62 starts and won 11 races. His biggest wins were in the 1953 New Mexico State Fair Derby and 1955 Los Alamitos Invitational Championship.

After he left the track, Moon Deck was purchased for $9,000 by James V. A. and Wm. H. Carter. He stood in Clovis, California. Moon Deck sired 343 AQHA registered foals. His most notable offspring were Jet Deck, Top Moon, Solar Fancy, Cue Deck, Caprideck, and Jet Too. Moon Deck was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 1996.
