NOTES: The above information is from Mare Charts in the 1908 Weil stud book. Hügel [p37] adds a strain of Saqlawi Jidran [attention: the said strain only refers to the two stallions, not to Murana] and describes Baron Fechtig as a man who later founded an Arabian Stud in Hungary himself. Fechtig had a very skillful man working for him in Damascus who handled horse purchases for him there. In the year 1816, Murana I was acquired from him at the port of Trieste, a common route for shipments from the Middle East into Europe. NOTE: Recent mtDNA research showed that Murana I is most likely of the strain Koheil Adjouz ref.: A new view on dam lines in Polish Arabian horses based on mtDNA analysis by Iwona Glazewska (2007) Reference: - Arabianhorses.org/datasource
