in Iowa 1911, 1st registered American Cream horse, o/b Harry Lakin the American Cream Draft Horse seems to have been started in 1911 with a gold champagne mare called 'Old Granny'. https://www.horse-genetics.com/champagne-horses.html In 1911, the stock dealer Harry Lakin noticed her at an auction in Story County, Iowa, and bought her. She was then sold to the Nelson Brothers Farm and moved to Jewell, Iowa. Many of Old Granny’s foals had the same cream-color as their mother, and they fetched a premium price for their beauty.
