Pasternak was named Champion of his Licensing at Rhineland in 1973, and was one of the most successful sons of the legendary Trakehner stallion, Patron. Pasternak was a prolific sire who produced many licensed sons, including Paterno (Pasternak x Gardist), Piros (Pasternak x Abendregen), the highly successful Prinz Muthagen (Pasternak x Rheingold), and the international dressage stallion Prince Balou (Pasternak x Schiwago). Pasternak progeny achieved outstanding success in competition, with winnings totalling well in excess of DM 165,000, a huge figure at the time.
