Bred by Charles W Jewett, Indianapolis, Indiana Owned by William Randolph Hearst, San Simeon, CA., May 1930 Al Khamsa 12.5% Crabbet NOTE: Someone wrote on this site that Sabab was approved as a Morgan sire. That isn't accurate. The fact is that in the early 1930's the Morgan breed appeared to be disappearing. (EXAMPLE: Only about one hundred Morgan foals were registered in one of those years.) As a survival strategy, the Morgan organization adopted a temporary rule which allowed a foal with only one registered Morgan parent to be registered as a Morgan. The rule provided that an X had to appear beside the registration number of such foals. That's how Sabab came to appear on the registration documents of some Morgans. It's obvious that he was a good stallion, but his appearance on Morgan pedigrees had nothing to do with an approval by the Morgan organization. That temporary rule was abolished about 1947. Robert Manley---1/3/25. Seems that Elliot Roosevelt, TX used him first bred horses foaled 1943-1944?
