He was being bred at the Hungarian national stud farms of Tiszafölvár and Kunszentmárton in the Szolnok region under the name 5156 Shagya XXXVI-6 when he was acquired by Gestüt Avenches together with Jussuf I. Shagya II bred at the Avenches stallion depot from 1965 to 1973. He completed stallion performance tests in both Hungary and Switzerland and won first prize at the 1964 Budapest Agricultural Exhibition. Shagya II later sold to a private owner in the Bernese Oberland, where he was frequently used in half-blood breeding.
