GIDRAN purchased there by Austro-Hungarian government stud officials for Hungarian State Studs. GIDRAN was posted to the Mezohegyes Stud in Hungary. In addition to his use in purebred breeding, he was used with an Andalusian mare to found the Gidran breed. The Gidrans are similar to Shagyas.
