TURKMAN gr. H, OTHER, 1830
| Color: gr
Turkoman
Journal des Haras 1861 : an Arabian stallion taken back to Europe by Nicholas Gliocho and bought in Vienna in 1841 by M. de Champagny for the French National Studs, sent to Pompadour Stud, next Napoleon-Vendée.
Comments : very strong legs, very beautiful head but a bit long, very good sire at Pompadour including six quality hot bloods foals (4 of them became remarkable stallions for the Southern French Studs), very dominant stallion in the breeding, very refined horse, very good progeny.
This stallion was one of the horses raising conflict described in the Journal des Haras between M. Gliocho and Baron Von Fechtig. He was definitely a Turkoman horse and not an Arabian despite his very high quality as a sire and as a splendid animal.
