Few years later the shrewd Kentucky breeder JOHN MADDEN shipped over to England, purchased the Hackney stallion WARLOCK, by Belmont 64 for $10,000 and brought him back to America. He was soon - February 1890 - at Mr. Woodard's auction in Lexington resold to S.A. Browne & Co. of Kalamazzo, Mich. for $ 15,000.
